
楊哲一
CHE-YI YANG
生於臺灣宜蘭,現於柏林創作與生活。早年接受環境科學訓練,並曾為羽球運動員,在2006年自印度歸國後罹患重病,使他重新思考生命的意義,從此轉向攝影創作,以影像作為自我與世界對話的方式。
他的作品多以「記憶、環境與文明邊界」為主題,透過時間與邏輯的精確結構,呈現情感的流動與記憶的感性。他以攝影書寫人類與自然的張力,探索地景之下的歷史與人文層次,試圖讓觀者在非慣性的觀看中重新理解「真實」的形狀。
2007年作品獲日本清里美術館永久典藏,2009年入選雲門舞集「流浪者計畫」,展開亞洲人文攝影旅程。近年於臺灣、日本、立陶宛、德國等地舉辦多場個展,代表系列《山水》、《邊境童話》持續探討全球化與地方記憶的交錯。
BORN IN YILAN, TAIWAN, AND CURRENTLY BASED IN BERLIN, YANG CHE-YI BEGAN HIS CAREER IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE BEFORE TURNING TO ART. AFTER RECOVERING FROM A SERIOUS ILLNESS IN 2006, HE FOUND NEW MEANING IN LIFE THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY.
USING THE CAMERA TO EXPLORE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEMORY, NATURE, AND HUMANITY. YANG’S WORKS INVESTIGATE THE TENSION BETWEEN PERCEPTION AND ENVIRONMENT, WHERE TIME AND LOGIC FRAME THE EMOTIONAL SENSIBILITY OF MEMORY.
HIS PROJECTS OFTEN TRAVERSE BORDERLANDS, INVITING VIEWERS TO REIMAGINE THE UNSEEN NARRATIVES OF LANDSCAPE AND CIVILIZATION. HIS PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE BEEN PERMANENTLY COLLECTED BY THE KIYOSATO MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS (JAPAN), AND HE WAS AWARDED IN CLOUD GATE DANCE THEATRE’S “RANGERS PROGRAM” IN 2009. RECENT EXHIBITIONS INCLUDE “SHAN SHUI” AND “BORDERLAND FAIRY TALES” HELD ACROSS TAIWAN, JAPAN, AND EUROPE, CONTINUING HIS EXPLORATION OF GEOGRAPHY, IDENTITY, AND TRANS-REGIONAL MEMORY.
